The Rauris Valley is also a hot tip for winter sports away from the groomed pistes: the legendary Kolm-Saigurn valley head and the picturesque side valleys of Hรผttwinkltal and Seidlwinkltal provide the perfect backdrop.
Ski touring and freeskiing are becoming increasingly popular and in the proud mountains of the Goldberg group around the three thousand meter peaks Hocharn (3,245 m) and Sonnblick (3,106 m) with Europe’s highest weather station on the summit, both professionals and beginners will find what they are looking for.
Other popular touring mountains include the Einรถdscharte (2,098 m), the Breitebenkopf (2,236 m), the Rรผhrkรผbel (2,472 m), the Kolmkarspitz (2,529 m), the Hocharn (3,254 m) and the Silberpfennig (2,600 m). The north-eastern slopes of the Hochalmbahnen ski area also boast deep snow areas right next to the groomed pistes right into spring.
