Winter delights in the Rauris Valley
Experience nature and enjoy hospitality in the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park
Rauris has many names: “Valley of Springs”, “Valley of Vultures” or “Valley of Gold”. In winter, blanketed in white, it presents itself above all as a valley of glittering expanses. The landscape, framed by imposing peaks and magnificent views, becomes the stage. This holiday paradise in the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park promises guests a varied programme of activities. From cross-country skiing and snowshoe hiking to ice climbing and long toboggan runs, you will find everything that falls into the category of “winter wonderland activities”. On top of that, the Rauris Valley is known for its – in the truest sense of the word – breathtaking ski tours and endless skiing fun. The gondola takes you up to the Rauriser Hochalm, where slopes for every ability and huts to suit every taste await. Thanks to the 2,200 metres of altitude, absolute snow reliability is guaranteed here from the first day of winter to the last day of spring. Right in the middle of this winter paradise stands Hotel Alpina. The Prommegger family are passionate hosts – and you can feel it here from the first “hello” to the day you depart. And arriving is, of course, twice as lovely when it leads you to an especially cosy room. Only recently, the exclusive themed rooms – such as the one inspired by the “Rauris Primeval Forest” – were created, bringing nature into the hotel’s four walls. The exterior façade also shines in a new look. “We put a lot of love into our house. That means there’s always something happening here,” says hotelier Thomas Prommegger. And as a guest, you will notice at the very latest that what already exists here is constantly being refined when, after a long day on the slopes, you sink into one of the restaurant chairs in the evening. Day after day, the kitchen team puts plenty of creativity and regional variety into its dishes, serving delicious creations as part of the indulgent half-board. Winter in the Rauris Valley is that beautiful – and that tasty.
