Two women sit on the shore of a mountain lake in front of green mountains; notices about the summer break are overlaid

Goodbye winter, hello summer – we look forward to seeing you again

Winter in the Rauris Valley is a special time. When the mountains around the valley glow in brilliant white, the mountain air is clear and fresh, and the snow-covered landscape spreads like a winter fairy tale across the entire region, then for many of our guests – and for us as well – it is the most wonderful time of the year.

Here at Hotel Alpina Rauris, we were once again able to enjoy a wonderful winter season. Many first-time guests, returning guests and dear regulars spent their holiday days with us, enjoyed the ski slopes, went on winter hikes through the snow-covered landscape and spent cosy evenings at the hotel. With the end of the season at Hotel Alpina Rauris, a wonderful and eventful winter season now comes to a close. For us, this is always a special moment – on the one hand, a small farewell to winter, and on the other, the beginning of anticipation for the upcoming summer season 2026.

At this point, we would like to say thank you. Thank you for your visit, for the pleasant conversations in the hotel, for your loyalty and for the many wonderful encounters during the winter season.

Summer in the Rauris Valley is already waiting

While things gradually become a little quieter at the hotel, the landscape outside in our Rauris Valley is already changing. The days are getting longer, the sun is gaining strength, and little by little the snow disappears from the valley, only to return now and then for a brief visit. The first green meadows begin to appear, and nature slowly comes back to life. For us, this is always a special moment, because it also marks the start of anticipation for a summer holiday in Rauris. Those who have only experienced our region in winter are often surprised by how diverse and impressive the Rauris Valley is in summer as well. Blooming alpine meadows, crisp mountain air, lush green landscapes and countless opportunities for active holiday days make summer in Rauris something truly special.

Whether it is a hiking holiday, a family break or simply a few relaxing days in nature – at Hotel Alpina Rauris you can look forward to cosy rooms, culinary variety and warm hospitality. Our perfect location right in the heart of the Rauris Valley is the ideal starting point for all activities.

Experience nature in the Hohe Tauern National Park

A summer holiday in Rauris means one thing above all: pure nature. The Rauris Valley lies right in the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park, one of Europe’s largest and most impressive protected areas. That is exactly what makes our region around the Rauris Valley a perfect destination for anyone who would like to spend their holiday in the mountains. Hotel Alpina Rauris is an ideal starting point for numerous hikes and excursions. Whether leisurely walks in the valley, family hikes or more challenging mountain tours – on a summer holiday in Rauris, everyone will find the right activity. Many of our guests particularly enjoy setting off from the hotel in the morning and heading straight into nature. Looking forward to summer – special experiences in the Rauris Valley

A summer holiday at Hotel Alpina Rauris offers many opportunities to experience nature actively. One particular highlight is gold panning, for which Rauris has been known for centuries. In the past, gold was actually mined here – today, visitors can try their luck themselves and search for tiny gold flakes. It is an exciting experience, especially for families.

Many alpine pastures also invite you to enjoy leisurely hikes in summer. After a hike, there is hardly anything nicer than taking a break at an alpine hut – with regional specialities and a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains.

In addition, many other nature experiences await you in the Rauris Valley:

Family with falconer and bird of prey on an alpine meadow in front of an Alpine panorama in summer
  • 295 km of marked hiking trails and alpine paths for every fitness level
  • Authentic alpine huts with regional delicacies
  • Peace and pure nature away from the hustle and bustle
  • Cycling tours through Rauris, one of the longest valleys in Hohe Tauern National Park
  • Large birds of preysuch as bearded vultures, griffon vultures and golden eagles, as well as other wildlifein their natural habitat
  • Tangible traces from the formative era as a centre of gold mining
  • Places of power such as the Rauriser UrQuell
  • Natural gems such as the Rauris Primeval Forest and the Kitzloch Gorge
  • Kolm Saigurn valley head with mighty three-thousand-metre peaks

A summer holiday in Rauris is therefore ideal for anyone who would like to combine nature, activity and relaxation.

Our team is already looking forward to the coming summer

Here at Hotel Alpina Rauris, anticipation for spring and the upcoming summer season is also slowly growing.
At our joint end-of-season celebration, we asked our staff what they are most looking forward to in the upcoming summer season.

Angela from reception says:
“I’m really looking forward to summer – you can truly feel the valley slowly coming into bloom, and for me spring begins with the first primroses along the path, and there’s a sense of good cheer in the air.”

Alexandra from service is especially looking forward to the warm, balmy summer evenings:
“In summer, many guests sit together comfortably after dinner. This relaxed atmosphere on the terrace or in the conservatory is simply wonderful. I’m also really looking forward to many pleasant encounters and fun conversations with my regular guests.”

We also asked our manager Carmen what she is most looking forward to:
“When Rauris is lively again and seeing the happy faces of our guests after an eventful day in the mountains.”

A short break: seasonal closure at Hotel Alpina

Goodbye winter, hello summer

After an intensive winter season, we are now taking a short break as well. During our seasonal closure from 07/04 to 21/05/2026, things will be a little quieter at Hotel Alpina for a short time. We use this phase not only to take a brief breather, but also to prepare our hotel for the coming season. A lot gets done behind the scenes during this time. We take care of minor renovations and carry out various tasks in the hotel and in the garden.

We take the opportunity to improve things that often fall by the wayside during the season. This time is also perfect for new ideas, and we consider how we can make your stay even more pleasant and are already planning the coming season in the Rauris Valley.

Of course, we remain available for enquiries and bookings during our seasonal closure. So if you would like to plan your next holiday already, please feel free to contact us at any time.

You can reach our reservations team from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM – by phone at +43 6544 6562 or by email at info@hotel-alpina-rauris.at.

We will be happy to help with all your questions and requests.

Your place in the mountains is already waiting – and we look forward to seeing you again!
