This exact winter fairy tale comes true in Rauris. Historical Torchlight Hike – Rauris in a Glow of Lights
Every Wednesday, the village transforms into a glowing winter fairy tale. During a guided torchlight hike through historical Rauris, you will learn exciting stories and surprising facts about the valley and its eventful past. An atmospheric evening walk that connects the past and present in a special way. With the National Park Winter Card, participation is even free of charge!
Winter Forest Bathing – Feel Nature with All Your Senses
Every Tuesday, the motto is: phone off, head clear, nature on. During winter forest bathing, you immerse yourself in the soothing silence of the snow-covered forest. Feel the clear, cold air, hear the crunch of the snow under your feet, and perceive nature with all your senses. This meditative nature experience helps you to gain new strength and find peace. Afterwards, a hot drink awaits you in the rustic Lechnerhäusl – the perfect conclusion to a small break from everyday life. This experience is also free of charge with the National Park Winter Card.

Rauris Valley Museum – History You Can Touch
In the heart of Rauris lies the historical Valley Museum, which takes you on an exciting journey through time through the “Golden Valley of the Alps.” In 17 lovingly designed showrooms, you will learn, among other things, how the first skis came to Rauris, why the valley became known for its wealth of gold, and what the story is behind Europe’s highest weather station on the Sonnblick. The exciting life story of Ignaz Rojacher, a true Rauris pioneer, is also vividly told here.

In the National Park House Wörth, an exhibition awaits you that lives up to its name: “Facettenreich” (Multifaceted). Here, you dive deep into the diverse natural and cultural landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park. When the engines roar, the snowmobiles chase through the night, and the air crackles with gasoline and excitement – then it’s Snow Hillclimbing time at the Kreuzboden valley run again!
Under floodlights, the slope transforms into a spectacular race track – goosebumps guaranteed!
The Snow-Speed Hill Race is a real highlight in the MSC Rauris event calendar and attracts countless spectators and motorsport enthusiasts every year.

Every Friday: Ski Touring Evening at Kreuzboden
When others are finishing their day of skiing, things are just getting started for you!
Every Friday between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM, the Kreuzboden/Waldalm slope is open for ski tourers. With a headlamp and a bit of fitness, you will be rewarded with an atmospheric evening tour – including a stop at the cozy Waldalm.
Laser Biathlon Course for Adults & Children aged 10 and over
Accuracy meets endurance at the cross-country skiing track near Bodenhaus: During laser biathlon, you will learn the technique in a short briefing, do a relaxed cross-country lap – and then it’s time to aim! Who will hit the bullseye?
Guided Snowshoe Excursions – Pure Nature in Kolm Saigurn
On Fridays, the motto is: take a deep breath! Along the snowshoe trail in Kolm Saigurn, a local guide will lead you through untouched winter landscapes. Forest, peace, and far-reaching views included. Free of charge with the National Park Winter Card.
Thursdays: Guided Winter Hike to the Hochalm
Every Thursday, things go high up – with the Rauriser Hochalmbahnen to the middle station and then further on foot about 300 meters in altitude up to the Hochalm. On the way, you will learn exciting things about the valley, enjoy a cup of spruce needle tea, and can stop for a bite to eat at the top.
Participation is free of charge with the National Park Winter Card – mountain railway ticket available separately.
Winter Fun for Families & Children
Tobogganing Evenings at Kreuzboden – Floodlights & Fun for Everyone
On Monday and Thursday evenings, the Kreuzboden toboggan run is illuminated from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. You can rent sleds directly at the valley station – then it’s: onto the sled and off to the fun!
Tilly’s Ziachschlitten Ride – a Highlight for Kids
On Thursdays from 4:00 PM, the practice lift at the valley station is firmly in children’s hands. With a Ziachschlitten – like those used in the past for wood or hay – you go rattling down the slope.
Included: mascot Tilly the Owl, a good mood, and plenty of winter fun.
This experience is completely free of charge!
Donkey Hike in Eschenau – a Sweet Animal Excursion
In nearby Taxenbach, a very special experience awaits families on Fridays: petting, grooming & cuddling donkeys before heading out together on a short hike through the snow-covered landscape. Children’s eyes will light up – perfect for the kids, every child’s heart will surely beat faster, and adults are guaranteed to have fun here too!
