Rauris and the Raurisertal Region

In the Hohe Tauern National Park

Enchanting Raurisertal extends in Pinzgau through the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park. "The Golden Valley of the Alps", "the secret jewel of the Hohe Tauern National Park" – those are popular names for Raurisertal in the province of Salzburg.  The scenic village of Rauris, the municipality with the largest total area in the entire province of Salzburg, is located in the heart of this valley.

The scenic village of Rauris is located in the heart of this enchanting valley at the foot of the mountains. Rauris is a market village with 3,052 inhabitants in the province of Salzburg in the district of Zell am See in Austria.

In summer, you can discover a multiplicity of exciting hiking and biking trails, numerous destinations and unique wonders of nature. Winter features snow-covered slopes, lonely cross-country ski runs and alpine winter magic

In contrast to many other valleys in the province of Salzburg, Raurisertal isn’t used exclusively as an alp farming region during the summer months, but has been an important settlement area for centuries.

Large areas of the three tributary valleys, Hüttwinkltal, Krumltal and Seidlwinkltal, have been part of the Hohe Tauern National Park since 1984.
