Riding in the heart of the Alps

Saddle up and ride out in one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes. Riding enthusiasts also get their money’s worth in the wintry Rauris Valley.

Winter sports enthusiasts, snow lovers, pleasure-seekers: They all love coming to Rauris in southern Salzburger Land. The Hohe Tauern National Park promises unforgettable winter adventures. Even on horseback: the region and the snow-covered landscape are particularly beautiful to explore from the back of a relaxed Icelandic horse. There are perfect offers for beginners and advanced riders right in the valley.

Riding lessons at the riding stables – switch off at Alpina
Two Rauris businesses have joined forces to offer guests of the Rauris Valley an unforgettable vacation with horses: The “Purer’s” riding stable with its own Icelandic breeding farm offers riding for beginners and advanced riders. Laura, the boss, is personally available at the course or – in case of bad weather – in the indoor riding arena. The “Reitsport Embach” riding stables are home to horses from small to large, including a wide variety of horse breeds such as warmbloods, Arabians, Spaniards, Haflingers and Shetland ponies. Beginners and advanced riders are individually supervised by Alexandra, a state-certified rider, and can improve their riding skills with tailor-made riding lessons. Particularly attractive is the covered riding arena, which allows riding without restrictions even in bad weather. Children are also well catered for: the riding stables offer special children’s riding lessons where the little ones can playfully learn how to handle horses and gain their first riding experience.

Just ten kilometers away, at the **** Hotel Alpina, you can set up camp if you ever want to leave the soul of your beloved horse. The family-run hotel works closely with the two riding stables. But guests who are getting on a horse for the first time or want to take a break are also in good hands at the Alpina. Not least because a successful day’s riding comes to an ideal end here: first in the wellness area with sauna and pool, then in the restaurant with regional and creative culinary delights from the hotel kitchen. For the host family Prommegger and the well-being of their guests comes first. A fact that you can feel here – as a rider, but also as a winter sports enthusiast and connoisseur – at all times.
