What could be more romantic than gliding through a snow-covered valley, wrapped in warm blankets – accompanied by the gentle sound of hooves in the snow? This winter fairytale becomes reality in Rauris. Whether during the day to enjoy the impressive landscape in all its glory, or in the evening when the stars sparkle over the valley – a horse-drawn carriage ride is an experience full of magic.
Historical torchlight hike – Rauris in a blaze of lights
Every Wednesday, the village transforms into a luminous winter fairytale. On a guided torchlight hike through historical Rauris, you will learn exciting stories and surprising facts about the valley and its eventful past. An atmospheric evening walk that connects the past and present in a special way. With the National Park Wintercard, participation is even free!
Winter forest bathing – experience nature with all your senses
Every Tuesday, the motto is: phone off, head clear, nature on. During winter forest bathing, you will immerse yourself in the soothing silence of the snow-covered forest. Feel the clear, cold air, hear the crunching of the snow under your feet, and perceive nature with all your senses. This meditative nature experience helps you to recharge your batteries and find peace. Afterwards, a hot drink awaits you in the rustic Lechnerhäusl – the perfect end to a little break from everyday life. This experience is also free with the National Park Wintercard.

Rauris Valley Museum – history you can touch
In the heart of Rauris lies the historical Valley Museum, which takes you on an exciting journey through time in the “Golden Valley of the Alps.” In 17 lovingly designed showrooms, you will learn, among other things, how the first skis came to Rauris, why the valley became known for its gold wealth, and what the highest weather station in Europe at the Sonnblick is all about. The exciting life story of Ignaz Rojacher, a true Rauris pioneer, is also brought to life here.
Multifaceted – The focus on nature
In the National Park House Wörth, an exhibition awaits you that lives up to its name: “Multifaceted”. Here you can immerse yourself in the diverse natural and cultural landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The Raurisertal is considered a true jewel of the Alps – and this is exactly what is made tangible in this interactive exhibition in a fascinating way.
Pilgrim Cabaret in Taxenbach – January 212026

Under floodlights, the slope transforms into a spectacular racetrack – goosebumps guaranteed!
The Snow-Speed Hill Race is a real highlight in the event calendar of the MSC Rauris and attracts countless spectators and motorsport enthusiasts every year.

Every Friday: Ski touring evening at the Kreuzboden
When others are ending their ski day, yours is just getting started!
Every Friday between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., the Kreuzboden/Waldalm slope is open for ski tourers. With a headlamp and a little stamina, you will be rewarded with an atmospheric evening tour – including a stop at the cozy Waldalm.
Laser biathlon course for adults & children aged 10 and over
Accuracy meets endurance at the Bodenhaus cross-country ski trail: At laser biathlon, you will learn the technique in a short training session, do a relaxed cross-country ski run – and then aim! Who will hit the bull’s eye?
Guided snowshoe excursions – pure nature in Kolm Saigurn
Fridays, the motto is: Take a deep breath! Along the snowshoe trail in Kolm Saigurn, a local guide will lead you through untouched winter landscapes. Forest, peace and panoramic views included. Free with National Park Wintercard.
Thursdays: Guided winter hike to the Hochalm
Every Thursday, it goes high up – with the Rauriser Hochalmbahnen to the middle station and then on foot about 300 meters uphill to the Hochalm. Along the way, you will learn exciting things about the valley, enjoy a cup of spruce needle tea and can stop off comfortably at the top.
Participation is free with the National Park Wintercard – mountain railway ticket available separately.
Winter fun for families & children
Tobogganing evenings at the Kreuzboden – floodlights & fun for everyone
On Monday and Thursday evenings, the Kreuzboden toboggan run is illuminated from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You can rent sleds directly at the valley station – then it’s time to get on the sled and off to the fun!
Tilly’s sled ride – a highlight for kids
Thursdays from 4:00 p.m., the practice lift at the valley station is firmly in the hands of children. With a sled – as in the old days for wood or hay – it rattles down the slope.
Also there: mascot Tilly the owl, good mood and lots of winter fun.
This experience is completely free!
Donkey hike in Eschenau – an adorably cute trip
In nearby Taxenbach, a very special experience awaits families on Fridays: petting, grooming & cuddling donkeys before going on a short hike together through the snow-covered landscape. Children’s eyes light up – Perfect for the kids, every child’s heart will probably beat faster and adults are guaranteed to have fun here too!
